Dear Friends,
Greetings to you from Bolivia! I apologize for not writing sooner. It seems that we are running as when we were younger. However, we are trusting in the Lord’s promise: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
On the first part in August we went in to “Missions in the Mountains Baptist Church.” Praise the Lord that the road was better than we expected it. It took us 6 hours on my four wheel truck to travel 75 miles. Once we got there we put our tent and the people started to arrive for the service. There were around 200 people hungry for God’s Word. One made profession of faith in the Lord and six were baptized at the river. Our trip to Vallegrande was very encouraging. I was there five days preaching on missions and teaching regarding faith promise missionary giving. It was a blessing to see dear believers giving toward the missionary program of their churches and taking the gospel to remote villages that have access only either by foot or horseback riding.
Upon our return from Vallegrande I was invited to again speak on evangelism and faith promise missionary giving at “New Light Baptist Church.” We praise God that this church is also getting involved in missions. This year I have seen several of our churches with a greater desire to reach the lost through missions. Dr. Ernesto Senteno has gone out from our church to start another mission church across town. Six believers from this new church were baptized at our church recently.
We also held our yearly evangelistic meetings at “Bible Baptist Church.” We are grateful that four people trusted the Lord as their Savior. Now we are getting ready to hold the yearly youth camp at our new camp site.
We won’t be able to accommodate more than 250 campers because we still need more cabins built. We also experienced a very difficult time recently. Ricardo Chacón, a key servant of the Lord in our church was involved in an airplane crash. As result, he went home to be with our Lord. He is greatly missed not only by his family but also by our church family. We praise God though that he is enjoying our Savior in heaven now. Things with the government and our churches are reaching a positive level. Therefore our plans to be in the USA from August through November 2014 are settled.
